Firstly, a huge thanks to all those who supported and joined us at our very successful conference last weekend.
We enjoyed insightful and passionate contributions from a wide variety of speakers in support of the disarmament cause and a peace economy.
The event could not have gone forward without the help of our amazing team of volunteers, who deserve special thanks for helping the conference run so smoothly.

Scottish CND’s next event is just around the corner: our Annual General Meeting on Saturday 15th of November. You can register free for this event, to attend either online or in person, here.
We have another excellent lineup of guests, including Florian Eblenkamp of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, Professor Karen Bell, co-author of CND’s Alternative Defence Review, Laura Pidcock of Declassified UK and Rob Edwards of The Ferret. The full programme for the day is downloadable here.
The AGM is open to all supporters – even if they are not members – to enjoy our guests’ contributions. However, only members will be able to vote on executive nominations, resolutions and amendments.
Speaking of resolutions – the deadline to submit amendments for resolutions is tomorrow (Saturday 8th) at 5pm. That gives all members time this evening and tomorrow to review the handful of resolutions already submitted here, and to email scnd@banthebomb.org with their suggested amendments by tomorrow 5pm.
As with our conference, we need volunteers to help the AGM run smoothly. Here is a short list of volunteer roles that will need covered. We encourage willing members and supporters to email scnd@banthebomb.org with their name and contact number so we can coordinate next week before the AGM!
Finally, note that there is a major climate march on the same day as the SCND AGM, coordinated by Friends of the Earth Scotland. There will be an SCND bloc on the march with “No Nuclear” placards that will be handed out to other demonstrators.
We already have a handful of SCND members who have volunteered to join the march, but please contact us if you would like to join the SCND climate march action team, hand out placards and make our presence felt on Saturday 15th!
It is essential that the anti-nuclear movement strengthen ties with climate campaigners and activists. The passion to protect and preserve the earth and humanity motivates both movements, and the nuclear threat is as much a climate issue as a matter of security and economy.

Responses and enquiries regarding any of the events and information in this newsletter are warmly welcomed!
In peace,
