Write to your MPs: The UK’s military and diplomatic support for Israel must end now. write to your MPs and urge them to beg the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary to immediately cease the UK’s support for the Gaza genocide.
For members in the Hamilton area: We are hosting a hustings on Wednesday 14th of May in advance of the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election on June 5th. This will take place at St. John’s Church, 7pm. All Hamilton constituents are strongly encouraged to attend!

Dear Friend of SCND,
As you will know, we are living at a time of unprecedented global risk and instability. As we speak, a majority of the world’s nuclear powers are directly engaged in lethal conflict.
Israel (and by proxy the US and UK), Russia, and now India and Pakistan are all embroiled in conflicts which are killing civilians. These countries are acting out of belligerence, recklessness, deliberately ramping up tensions with no regard for the human costs of conflict.
So ask yourself: what has their possession of nuclear weapons done to prevent this? Isn’t nuclear “deterrence” supposedly intended to preserve peace and stability?
Indeed, the illogic of nuclear “deterrence” is making itself plain. Nuclear weapons provide no basis for security but only worsen geopolitical tensions. That’s why we oppose them here, in Scotland, and around the whole world. Because nuclear weapons anywhere are a threat to life anywhere.
Meanwhile, nuclear-armed Israel has stepped up its genocidal assault on Gaza, with the Israeli government this week announcing it would seek to indefinitely occupy the territory, concentrate all remaining Palestinians in one area of the strip and ‘encourage’ their migration. In other words, initiate an ethnic cleansing operation. All this comes after over 2 months of permanent humanitarian blockade, directly causing the catastrophic hunger of hundreds of thousands of people.
At this stage, the depravity of the Israeli regime, which can also be described as a nuclear state gone rogue, should be transparent for all to see. However, our government still refuses to act accordingly.
Senior ‘Labour’ party figures continue to mince words about the urgency for humanitarian support in Gaza. At no point have they suggested measures to pressure Israel into ending their illegal siege, or contemplated the possibility
of facilitating aid themselves. Even worse, no government figures have acknowledged that the British military are actively supporting Israel’s efforts, sending spy flights regularly over Gaza and regularly transporting god-knows-what from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus to Tel-Aviv.
We do have some indication of what those flights might be carrying, with a recent report showing that the UK has transported thousands of military items and munitions since 2023, even through the a supposed export ban.
It’s time to put as much pressure on our representatives as possible about this outrage. Use the writetothem website to contact your local MP and urge them to contact the Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister to change their policy on this issue.
We recommend that you ask your MP to support:
- A TOTAL arms embargo on Israel and economic sanctions to pressure them to allowing aid into Gaza.
- Cease all British military collaboration with Israel.
- Enforce the ICC arrest warrants for Israeli officials visiting the UK.
We hope to see our followers and movement supporters at the national demonstration tomorrow at noon, in Glasgow city centre. It’s never been more urgent to raise our voices against the madness of militarism.
Finally, we invite all constituents of the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse constituency to a hustings St. John’s church in Hamilton at 7pm, in advance of the June 5th Scottish parliamentary by-election. This is an opportunity for constituents to put their questions to the aspiring candidates to be MSP.
Make your voice heard, oppose the UK government’s nuclear militarism and support candidates opposing nuclear weapons in Scotland.
