Before submitting a resolution for the AGM, make sure you have read and understand the Framing Statement written by Chair and which was approved by members at our recent Pre-AGM Meeting. It’s also worth looking through our Year in Review report, which has been printed, distributed to members without email and will be available to pick up at our AGM. You can request a physical copy of the report by emailing us.
We are also issuing a call for volunteers to help with the running of the AGM! If you can spare some time on or before the day, please consider volunteering for one (or more) of these roles:

Finally, we have an important announcement regarding our recent joint protest with Stop the War Scotland in Edinburgh on 6th of September:
Several Scottish CND members attended an event outside the UK government building Queen Elizabeth House in Edinburgh on Saturday 6th September at which some people held up signs saying “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action” and the other participants surrounded them in silent witness. Many organisations were collaborating with Defend Our Juries in taking this action including Scottish CND and Stop the War Scotland. Witnesses included our chair, vice chair and myself and placard holders included Janet Fenton.
There were no arrests during the event but Janet Fenton is among those subsequently arrested and charged under section 13 of the Terrorism Act then released without conditions to await further news of whether or not prosecution will proceed.
It goes without saying that we believe these arrests for a totally peaceful protest action are a major and unprecedented overreach by Police Scotland. Peaceful protestors like those in attendance on 6th September are not terrorists and we hope these charges will not be pursued.
Please use the links in this email to register for these important campaign events, and get involved to strengthen the civil movement against nuclear weapons and the UK government’s plans for a war economy.
In peace,
Scottish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament
