This email contains a final update before the demonstration tomorrow. Further enquiries are welcome and should be directed to scnd@banthebomb.org.
The Glasgow bus had to change its pick-up location due to street closures in the city centre. It will now leave at 11:00am from Cathedral Street, near the top of North Hanover Street, at the bus stance above Queen Street Station. If you are booked on this bus, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to ensure you have enough time to board.
The Edinburgh bus leaves at 9:45am from Charlotte Square. If you are booked on this bus, please also arrive at least 15 minutes before the departure time.
There are also still spaces on the bus travelling from Aberdeen and passing through Dundee, Perth, and Stirling on the way to and from the demonstration. There’s still time to contact Mike at cndabdn@gmail.com to register your interest for a spot on this bus!
Itinerary & Speakers
We have planned for the buses to make a toilet stop in Helensburgh before arriving at the base.
We expect the buses to arrive from 12:30pm. We invite those travelling independently to aim to arrive just before 1pm as speeches will commence punctually. Below is the programme for the rally, and more information about the itinerary for the afternoon:
1:00pm – Welcome Remarks from Scottish CND Chair Lynn Jamieson
Bishop McGee (Argyll & the Isles)
Ron Culley (Author)
Marian Pallister (Pax Christi Scotland)
Protest in Harmony (Music!)
Sophie Bolt (CND UK General Secretary)
Brad Oliver (Veterans for Peace)
Kate Whitaker (FotE Scotland)
JC Bigfoot (Music!)
Cara McKee (Scottish Greens)
Coll McCail (Stop the War Scotland)
Iona Soper (Secure Scotland)
Rebecca Johnson (ICAN)
2:20pm – Bus pickup from rally for trip to Glen Fruin viewpoint.
3:00pm – Return from Haul Road viewpoint to Edinburgh and Glasgow (Glasgow bus making a toilet stop in Balloch).
We are very pleased to have such a diverse lineup of speakers, who will each bring their own valuable perspective on why we in Scotland should stand opposed to nuclear weapons, at Faslane and worldwide.
Those travelling by public transport can take direct trains from Glasgow Queen Street to Helensburgh Central, from which the hourly 316 bus leaves that stops directly outside the North Gate of the naval base.
Please ensure you coordinate your train journey with the bus timings, given the infrequency of this bus. The 316 usually picks up from the station on or just past the hour.
A reminder also to bring weather-appropriate clothing, including waterproof rain jackets and enough warm layers to be safe! We all know how changeable the conditions have been on the west coast lately.
Finally, please bring a packed lunch and snacks to keep your energy, as including travelling the demonstration will take up most of the daytime!

Looking forward to seeing many friendly faces tomorrow!
