Voted for motion which opposed Trident replacement
Made a speech and pointed out that
"the alliance against the renewal of Trident and in favour of nuclear disarmament is bigger and wider than at any point since the second world war."
Also supported Elaine Smith's amendment which was not accepted for debate.

Replied to survey in November 2006 saying he was opposed to the upgrading or replacement of the Trident.
On 8 December 2006 said he told BBC TV - "I just think in the new world, we don't actually need this kind of weapon. .. I think we ought to try and get rid of the weapons we have through multi-lateral disarmament rather than encouraging proliferation through new investment in armaments."
