Scottish Parliament Motion

Amendment from Elaine Smith14 June 2007

The original motion said

That the Parliament congratulates the majority of Scottish MPs for voting on 14 March 2007 to reject the replacement of Trident and calls on the UK Government not to go ahead at this time with the proposal in the White Paper, The Future of the United Kingdom’s Nuclear Deterrent.

Amendment S3M-192.2 from Elaine Smith (Labour) said:

As an amendment to motion (S3M-169) in the name of Patrick Harvie, leave out "at this time".

This was supported in advance of the debate by Labour MSPs Marlyn Glen, Bill Butler, Pauline McNeill, Cathy Peattie and Malcolm Chisholm.

The Presiding Officer did not select this amendment for debate. Elaine Smith then asked for this to be considered as a motion without notice. The Presiding Officer did not allow this. (details)
