"I have always supported the position on unilateral nuclear disarmament. I have always voted against Trident renewal in the Scottish Parliament. That is a position which will not change.2

Trident debate 14 June 2007

Voted for motion which opposed Trident replacement

Supported Elaine Smith's Amendment before the debate and made 3 interventions in the debate.

Views on nuclear weapons:

Replied to survey in November 2006 saying he was opposed to upgrading or replacing Trident saying " I was pleased to welcome those who took part in the 'Long walk for Peace' when it passed through my Glasgow Anniesland constituency. I would urge all citizens to write to their MP urging him/her to oppose Trident renewal when it is debated at Westminster"

Trident debate 21 December 2006
Abstained on Labour amendment, voted for SNP amendment, but voted against Lib Dem amendment
Trident debate September 2006:
Voted in support of the SNP motion (to oppose Trident replacement) and the Green amendment (on diversification) and against the Labour amendment. Made speech during debate.

Trident debate May 2006:

Voted for Green motion (opposing Trident replacement) and abstained on Labour amendment.
