Member of Scottish CND Executive and Scottish representative on the Coundil of the international network, Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non proliferation and Disarmament. Replied to survey in 2011: Question 1. The Scottish Parliament should continue to call on the UK government not to go ahead with the current proposal to replace Trident. Question 2. The Scottish Parliament should call on the UK government to cease the deployment of Trident Question 3. The Scottish Parliament should support a Nuclear Weapons Convention (a global ban on nuclear weapons). Question 4. Are you for or against the construction of new nuclear power stations in Scotland ? "Scotland has a chance to lead the way in nuclear disarmament with the majority of our politicians joining the majority of our citizens in calling the abandonment of the replacement of Trident and for the ending of its deployment on the Clyde, also for the Scottish Parliament to support a Nuclear Weapons Convention as part of UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon's Five-Point-Plan for a World free of nuclear weapons." "Scotland is capable of being a powerhouse for renewable energy sources in Europe and as nuclear power has been shown, sadly again in Japan, to be both potentially dangerous and environmentally irresponsible we should be concentrating our energies and scientific resources on developing renewables for our and other peoples future needs."
