Replied to survey in November 2006 saying he was opposed to the upgrading or replacing of Trident and said "I have long stood in opposition to the contiued presence of nuclear weapons in Scotland these weapons are of no strategic importance to the British state in the modern age, and in my opinion the possesion of a weapon system that arbitrarly kills is morally wrong. We should use the estimated £75 billion cost of renewing Trident in other more productive ways. To eradicate poverty at home and abroad, to improve Health and Education. I totally oppose the Renewal of the Trident weapons system"
