Trident Debate 14 June 2007 :

Voted for motion which opposed the renewal of Trident

Made the closing speech in support of the Green Party Motion and said:

"We want the Scottish Parliament to be a Parliament that is opposed to the immoral, illegal and unnecessary replacement of Trident. We want it to be a Parliament of peace, non-violence and integrity, that has the wisdom to recognise the utter folly of pursuing a new nuclear weapons system."

Views on nuclear weapons:

Replied to survey in November 2006 saying he was opposed to the upgrading or replacing of Trident and said "I have assisted campaign for nearly fifty years, against nuclear weapons, from the early Aldermaston marches through the marches against the Holy Loch base and now the Faslane Protest. In the great scheme of things this is a very short time, it is a moral argumentr we must win with the people of Scotland and the people of Britain."
