Replied to a letter from Scotland's for Peace saying that he would vote against the replacement of Trident - "I am opposed to the Trident development, given the evidence currently available, and will vote against any plan to proceed with this. I have also been lobbying government directly to continue its commitment to multilateral nuclear disarmament" Gained seat in by-election on 6th November 2008
