Letter printed in Sunday Post 11 May:
The Sunday Post should be congratulated for highlighting the importance of nuclear weapons in the independence debate. However your opinion poll was misleading. It included an option of a less powerful and cheaper alternative to Trident. This is not a real option. The Conservative and Labour parties have both firmly ruled out any alternative type of nuclear weapon system. They are both wedded to a system similar to Trident. Your poll shows that only 22% of Scots support this.
