The Minisitry of Defence are considering replacing the Ministry of Defence Police at Faslane nuclear base with soldiers in the Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS).
The plan was revealed in the Herald which quoted a source as saying "The options under consideration are that all the MoD Police would be removed and replaced or that the majority would be removed and replaced with the MPGS". MPGS is part of the Army and is made up people who have served at least three years in any branch of the British military forces, including the TA. They are only given 5 days training and can be armed.
