Radiation from Fukushima reaches Glasgow

Iodine 131, which is thought to have come from the nuclear accident in Japan, was detected in Glasgow on 28 March. John Ainslie, Coordinator of the Scottish CND, said: “If radiation from Japan can be detected in Glasgow then nowhere in the world is immune from the effects of a nuclear accident.  In the light of this, it is unbelievable that some candidates in the Scottish election still argue that we should build new nuclear power stations in Scotland.  A similar disaster here would spread radiation around the globe.”
