Glasgow

Monday 6 August

This year Helensburgh CND and Faslane Peace camp have taken the initiative to organise the 2012 commemoration on the river Clyde in Glasgow.

The programme envisaged for the day will be:

12 noon onwards: Making Lanterns in St Enoch's Square, Glasgow

8 pm Procession from St Enoch's Square with lanterns to launching site on the river.

9pm (dusk) Launching of lanterns.
We appeal to those who believe that 5,000 deployed nuclear warheads pose an intolerable threat to human survival, to promote this initiative in any way they can.

Bridge of Allan

Monday 6 August

At 7pm  we will gather at the Peace Garden within the Pullar Memorial Park, Keir Street, Bridge of Allan. (Map - http://bit.ly/OiyMNe) This is an opportunity to remember the destruction of Hiroshima in 1945 by an atomic weapon and to share our hopes and visions for peace in the future. The ceremony is open for people to make their own contribution with a reading, a song or any other expression. It should last no more than an hour. Clackmannan's Provost Tina Murphy will be there and we hope  that Mike Robbins of Stirlign will also attend. Both councils are members of the global Mayors for Peace network.
