A series of events will take place around Scotland to mark the anniversaries of the use of the first atomic bombs against Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These will happen in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Helensburgh, Irvine, Kilwinning, Paisley and Rutherlen. Some of these are linked to Scotland's Walk for Peace. On 14 August there is a conference in Stirling.
ABERDEEN

DUNDEE
Dundee CND will hold their annual walk up Dundee Law to mark the Hiroshima anniversary on Friday 6 August. Gather at the foot of the Law at 8 pm and march off at 8.30 pm. Speakers: John McAllion plus Labour, SNP and Trade Union representatives.

GLASGOW
Thursday 5 August - Peace Walk arrives in Glasgow from Rutherglen Friday 6 August - 7 pm Rally at the Peace Tree, Kelvingrove Park (opposite Kelvin Hall) 7 pm. Speakers:Sandra White MSP, Drew Macfarlane (Equity), Martha Wardrop (Greens), representative of Peace Walk. Music from Arthur Johnston. Followed by floating flowers and paper cranes on the River Kelvin, joined by peace walkers. Glasgow West CND.
Saturday 7 August - Peace Walk from Govan to Dumbarton.
HELENSBURGH
Friday 6 August - gather 8.30 pm at the Cherry Trees in front of Victoria Halls and travel to Rhu Spit to float paper lanterns at 9.15 pm.
Sunday 8 August - Scotland's Peace Walk from Dumbarton to Helensburgh (12 noon) and then Faslane Monday 9 August - Peace Walk from Faslane Peace Camp to Coulport; 9 pm vigil at Coulport to mark the Nagasaki anniversary.
Tuesday 10 August - 7 am vigil at Coulport then Peace Walk from Coulport to Helensburgh. 6 pm social with walkers in the United Reformed Church, Helensburgh, followed by a meeting at 7.30 pm.
Wednesday 11 August - 9 am - walkers set off from Helensburgh.
