Scotland’s Long Walk for Peace

Our job, therefore, is to mobilise that great majority of Scottish people who see Trident replacement as a dangerous waste of our scarce resources. In June Scottish CND is organising a Scottish multi-party and multi-faith inspection of Aldermaston which will draw widespread attention to the sinister new developments there.

In September(14th-19th) Scotland’s for Peace is planning Scotland’s Long Walk for Peace to take the campaign against Trident replacement from the gates of Faslane to the doorstep of Scotland’s parliament at Holyrood. The walk will pass through the most heavily populated parts of central Scotland, with rallies and public meetings on the way, using a heady mix of music and politics, all powered by an ingenious green PA system. Other attractions will be Back of the Moon, recently voted Scotland’s best traditional band, plus a range of other musicians and celebrities. Bruce Kent, Kate Hudson, local MPs and MSPs will also be participating. The walk will culminate in a demonstration in Edinburgh and the presentation of our demand that Scotland’s parliament protects its citizens by opposing Trident replacement. We already have dozens of people signing up to do the whole walk, but even if you can only be with us for part of the way, or can help to build for the event in your area, please get in touch.
