Tell Labour to Ditch Trident

You have 18 days to tell Labour to ditch Trident

The general public, as well as party members, are able to make submissions to the Labour Party Defence Review. Please use this opportunity to tell Emily Thornberry that you are opposed to Trident. Points you might make are:

The Trident renewal plan is that new nuclear-armed submarines should be based in Scotland until the late 2060s.

Tory MP Crispin Blunt has calculated that this would cost £167 billion.

58 of Scotland’s 59 MPs are expected to vote against Trident renewal when it is debated at Westminster later this year.

The Scottish Parliament voted overwhelmingly against nuclear weapons in November 2015, with 96 MSPs opposing Trident renewal and only 17 supporting the plan.

126 nations around the world have endorsed a new pledge to fill the legal gap for the prohibition and elimination of nuclear weapons. Britain should be supporting this international move to ban the bomb, not trying to block it.

The Scottish Labour Party conference voted, by a clear majority, to oppose Trident renewalon 1 Novemberr 2015.

The UK Labour party should listen to Scotland’s elected representatives and to its own Scottish conference and ditch Trident.
