The Scottish
Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament criticised the
Chancellor for support for replacing Trident
\"Gordon Brown has pre-empted the debate into
Trident Replacement, which the Government had promised.
He has not even waited for the civil servants to
complete their studies into the options available.
Replacing Trident will mean that Britain will continue
to spend £1 billion on nuclear weapons very year for 25
years. The Chancellor knows that £25 billion could have
a major impact on reducing poverty at home and abroad.
It should be used wisely and not squandered on dangerous
Weapons of Mass Destruction.\"

Disarmament
