Hope for disarmament from independence poll

The latest opinion poll on the Scottish independence referendum provides hope for those who want to see nuclear disarmament. Independence offers a real opportunity to remove nuclear weapons from Scotland and the prospect of Britain having no nuclear weapons, because relocating Trident would be very difficult, if not impossible.
The poll by ICM for Scotland on Sunday found that there was a 6% swing from No to Yes, with 46% saying Yes and 54% No (excluding don't knows).  The poll also showed significant increases in the proportion of young people and women who are likely to vote Yes. The surprising SNP majority in the 2011 Scottish Parliament election suggests that a further swing towards independence is possible.
