Hiroshima Day Anniversary - Glasgow
Tue 6 Aug 2019  1:00pm
SCND National Events

Scottish CND will hold a gathering to commemorate Hiroshima Day anniversary on Tuesday 6th August at 1:00pm in Glasgow.

We will meet at the Peace Tree in front of the main entrance of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow at 1:00pm.

The date of the gathering is the anniversary of the day which the US with British Government agreement dropped a nuclear bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on the 6th August 1945.

The consequences of this action at the end of the Second World War resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries. It provided a very clear and powerful example of the harm which can be caused by the use of nuclear weapons.

Anyone who is interested is very welcome to attend the gathering.

The programme:

1:00pm - introduction and welcome with two minute silence to remember the victims of the Hiroshima bombing.

1:15pm - Some brief messages and readings

1:30pm - Closing remarks

Please pass the word round in your networks.
