 STOP FUNDING NUKES

Don't Bank on the Bomb Scotland invites you to a Stop Funding Nukes public meeting in the Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria St, Edinburgh EH1 2JL on Wednesday 15 November 2017.

Doors open at 6:30 pm and meeting starts at 7 pm.

Don't Bank on the Bomb Scotland is a campaigning network and partner of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons ICAN), winner of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize and we are inviting people to this public meeting to discuss developments in campaigning for divestment from nuclear weapons. Programme for meeting

  • 6:30 pm- Coffee/tea
  • 7pm - Welcome and brief introduction
  • 7:10 pm - Medical and humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons Dr Michael Orgel - Medact Scotland
  • 7:40pm - The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons negotiated at the UN in 2017 - Elizabeth Minor - ICAN UK (UK partner of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize winning peace organisation ICAN)
  • 7:50pm - Using the new Global Ban Treaty (The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons) to boost divestment from nuclear weapons - Susi Snyder – (Don't Bank on the Bomb- Netherlands)
  • 8:20pm- A chance to ask questions of radiation biologist Ian Fairlie who is an expert on radiation doses and risks to human health.
  • 8:35 pm - Brief input on the work of Don't Bank on the Bomb Scotland
  • 8:40 pm - Question and answer session
