Nuclear submarine mutiny at Rothesay

The Scottish Sun reported that there was a near mutiny on the nuclear powered submarine, HMS Trafalgar. The vessel was carrying out an exercise near Portsmouth when a dive went wrong. Water from ballast tanks spilled into the bilges and alarms were set off. It was reported that tonnes of water poured into the submarine.

Soon after the vessel visited Rothesay in the Clyde estuary. Three sailors failed to return to the vessel on time and were later reprimanted and fined. The newspaper report said that the three tried to organise a mutiny.
