The Labour MP Denis Canavan has said that he intends to join in a protest which will take place at the gates of the Faslane nuclear base on Monday 15th February at 7.00 am.
Protesters from Trident Ploughshares will be sitting down in the road to prevent the workforce from entering the base first thing in the morning.
Also taking part will be Church of Scotland Minister Rev Norman Shanks who is leader of the Iona Community. Senior members of the Scottish National Party are also expected to attend.
Before the Monday morning blockade street campaiging will take place across Scotland on Saturday. There will be events in Argyle Street Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee, Hamilton, Ayr and Irvine.
The theme of all these events is "Love the Planet - Scrap Trident". Valentine cards with an appropriate message will be signed on the streets and taken to the Faslane blockade.
