Nuclear convoy heading to Scotland (15 June 1998)

A convoy carrying nuclear weapons left the atom bomb factory at Burghfield in Berkshire at 12 noon today (Monday 15 June). It is probably travelling to Scotland bringing more Trident nuclear weapons to the Coulport / Faslane submarine base.

It is expected to travel tomorrow from Peterborough to Newcastle then to drive through Scotland on Wednesday (17 June). The convoy contains 3 purpose built nuclear weapons transporters plus escort.

There will be demonstrations against the convoy in Scotland.
