Supporters of the Peace Camp tried to speak to the Finance Committee of Argyll and Bute Council when they met to discuss the future of the camp in Lochgilphead. Dick Walsh the chair of the committee ordered that all members of the public leave the council chamber. The protesters refused to move. The councillors then left out of a back door and continued the meeting in secret in another room.
The statement which the council issued had obviously been written in advance. It had a time on it of 11.30 am, but the committee had not even started to discuss the item until 1 pm. The statement said Argyll and Bute Council's finance and personnel committee agreed today (Thurs 24 April) to take steps to remove people presently occupying Council land at Shandon
The Peace Camp are taking legal advise as they have both planning permission and a lease for the site they occupy, which is owned by the Council
