Don't Start Wars Rally - Glasgow

A march and rally will be held in Glasgow on Saturday 27 April. It will be an opportunity for people to express their concern about recent events in Palestine and the threat of war against Iraq. The themes will be "Don't Start Wars", "Hands off Iraq" and "End the Israeli occupation of Palestine".

11 am assemble in George Square
11.30 - 12.15 march around the city centre.
12.30 - 1.30 rally in George Square.

Feeder marches will leave at 10 am from Pollock Library, Sighthill and Glasgow University.

Speakers at the rally will include:
Carol Naughton (chair of CND), George Galloway MP, Tommy Sheridan MSP, Kathy Galloway (Iona Community), Assad Rahman (Stop the War Coalition).

The rally will be chaired by Dr Alan Mackinnon, chair of the Scottish Coalition for Justice not War. Dr Mackinnon said: "The demonstration will protest about the slaughter of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza and the threat of war against Iraq. We call on Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories and for a boycott of Israeli goods. We also call on the British government to stop preparing for war against Iraq."

The Scottish Coalition for Justice not War is a grouping of peace, religious, political and trade union organisations.
