Party on the Moor

Yorkshire CND and British CND are currently organising a national demostration/event for June 15th, at Fylingdales in North Yorkshire.

The event - "Party on the Moor!" - aims to raise awareness of missile defence and militarisation of space and will be taking place at the same weekend that the ABM treaty finally dies. The treaty's death paves the way for US requests to use the base, and Menwith Hill base in West Yorkshire, for the US missile defence system.

The event will have a real party atmosphere, with music, food, stalls (if you'd like a stall contact us at Yorkshire CND),games, and speakers (including Bruce and Carol) - all in view of the Fylingdales pyramid. It starts at 1pm at the base (or you can walk up to the base from Whitby with Bruce Kent and Carol Naughton if you'd prefer!)

Tony Blair is apparently nervous about the public reaction to him giving the go ahead for use of the two bases, and is worried that Fylingdales could become the new Greenham Common.
