24 hour protest at Faslane
Faslane Peace Camp started a blockade of the Trident base at 7 am on 13 November and part of the blockade was still in place 24 hours later.
At the South gate four people were chained together, one of them in a wheelchair. At the North gate two tripods made from scaffolding poles were erected and three people were suspended from them. This completely blocked both main entrances to the nuclear base just as the workforce were arriving. Around one hour later some of the traffic slowly entered the base using a side gate.
One of the protesters only came down from his tripod at 8 am on the 14 November, more than 24 hours after the start of the demonstration.
The authorities constructed large fences to screen the protest from passers by. However the tripods were so tall that they could still be seen.
