Trident hearing to go ahead on 9th October

At a preliminary hearing on 29th September it was agreed that the Lord Advocates Reference arising from the acquital of the Trident three last year would go ahead from 9th to 13th October at the High Court of Justiciary in Edinburgh. Supporters are asked to attend the court.

On Friday 13th October there will be an opportunity to discuss the implications of the hearing with legal experts at a Lord Provosts Reception in Edinburgh City Chambers at 7.30 pm. If you with to attend please email Scottish CND or phone 0141 423 1222.

At the preliminary on 29th September the presiding judge Lord Prosser dismissed various moves made by the legal teams representing Ulla Roder and Ellen Moxley, and by Angie Zelter, who represented herself. The crown did not make any amendments to the original questions, as had been suggested at an earlier preliminary. A request for a full transcript was dismissed. Questions were raised about the implications of the European Convention of Human Rights on the way in which the hearing was being conducted.
