Trident hearing preliminary set

The preliminary for the Lord Advocates Reference will now be held at the High Court of Justiciary near St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh at 2 pm on Friday 29th September. This will be an important session which is expected to consider key issues prior to the full hearing which has been scheduled for 9 - 13 October.

At the last preliminary hearing the preciding judge, Lord Prosser, suggested that the Lord Advocate should redraft one of the questions. This could mean that the central issue of the legality of British nuclear weapons is dealt with more directly.

Meanwhile arrangements have been made for a Lord Provosts Reception at Edinburgh City Chambers at 7.30 pm on Friday 13 October, when there will be an opportunity to hear legal experts give their opinion on the hearing. Please contact us if you are interested in attending.
